This is by agreement of course, but generally I see clients on one of the weekend days.

If you are interested in making an appointment or want information about current fees, please contact me via email or phone on 0431682137.

Is coaching only aimed at achieving a career dream?

No, you can name the goal that is important for you, e.g.

  • To achieve a better family life”
  • To meet the perfect partner”
  • To become involved in my local community”
  • To get on better with other people”

Does everyone achieve their goals if they have a life coach?

That depends on the person, and their commitment. We spend a lot of time ensuring that we have the right goal before launching into making it happen, because our aim is for you to succeed.

What is a Psychologist?

A psychologist undertakes 4 years of university study in psychology followed by either two years supervision by a clinical psychologist or an additional ‘registration course’. Upon passing graduates can then apply to the NSW Psychologists Registration Board to be registered. Registered psychologists cannot prescribe medication at the current time, but provide a variety of therapies to treat mental problems. The most popular of these is the research-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. The therapy usually consists of making changes to behaviour and thinking in order to make you feel better. Therapy also aims to improve your communication skills and how you get along with others. You may want to see a psychologist due to anxiety or depression, or because you have some other issues in your life that you have unsuccessfully tried to solve, and that interferes with your happiness in your daily life.

What is a Clinical Psychologist?

Clinical psychologists first complete 4 years of university study in psychology and then undertake a Masters degree that involves placements in clinical settings, where they work with clients under supervision, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders. Upon graduation they can then apply to the NSW Psychologists Registration Board to be registered. They can specialise in a particular area such as treatment of phobias or depression, and are generally highly skilled in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

What is a Psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist has a medical degree and has undertaken further training in psychiatry. Psychiatrists use both talking therapy and prescribe medication (when required) to treat a variety of mental disorders such as depression, severe anxiety, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Why would I go to a Psychologist/Life coach?

Not all coaches are psychologists. It is useful to choose a coach who is both a psychologist AND a coach, as mental problems can be uncovered during coaching that may only be recognised by a psychologist, and that may need further treatment.

What is it like to see a Psychologist/Life coach? What should I expect?

You will be met at the door by a friendly coach, asked to sit down, and the session then begins. Generally, you will be sitting in comfortable chairs facing one another. The coach will initially do some explaining about the sessions, may use a whiteboard for illustrating points, and then it will be the client’s turn to outline his or her expectations.

Confidentiality

You can expect total confidentiality except in the unlikely event that you reveal plans that may endanger yourself or others. As a psychologist I have obligations to then disclose the information in order to avert the likely risk and ensure that the safety of you and others.

Some people consider the fees of Psychologists expensive.

As already mentioned, psychologists undertake years of study. During this time they often incur a debt and are not part of the workforce. Psychologists also have to be insured and many are paying members of the Australian Psychological Society. They also invest large sums of money in assessment purchases. The fees that are charged therefore reflect these investments. However, many psychologists adjust their fees according to the client’s financial status, and occasionally offer free sessions to needy clients. So if money is an issue, this should be discussed with your chosen psychologist prior to a session.
